No conflict between Belarus and Russia, Lukashenko says

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – There is no conflict between Belarus and Russia, just some disagreements among politicians, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Governor of Kursk Oblast of Russia Alexander Mikhailov on 26 August, BelTA has learnt. “There is absolutely no conflict between Belarus and Russia; there is no and cannot be any conflict between the Belarusians and Russians. Everything that is happening is absolutely subjective. It is a personal conflict, take it this way,” the head of state said. Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that he is not going to respond to the attacks of the Russian media against him and the country. “They prompt me to retaliate against the media campaign against me and Belarus, but I am not going to do so,” the Belarusian leader said. He added that the mud slinging in Russia “is not about Belarus and the Belarusian President, it is a movie about them”. “They want everyone to be like them. This is why Belarus will not respond to it, no matter how many movies like that they shoot,” the President said. Alexander Lukashenko reiterated, “there is no power and no politicians that can break our friendship, our fraternity. “You should know: whether politicians want it or not, it is impossible to separate the Belarusians and Russians,” he said. The head of state noted that he said that not because “there is no way out for Lukashenko” like some people think. “The world is huge; all it takes is to make the right move. Belarus has not been and will not be alone. However, I am not sure that the Russian authorities are interested in it. Our peoples are definitely not,” the President said. Addressing the Kursk Oblast Governor, Alexander Lukashenko suggested “leaving the smear behind” and underlined that they will find reliable partners in Belarus who are ready to provide any assistance. “We are not going to veer left or right. We are absolutely reliable and trustworthy partners,” he said.
